The DeKalb County Poultry & Egg Association was organized in 1968 and
provides their members with educational and networking opportunities through quarterly
meetings. Located in the Northeast corner of Alabama, DeKalb county is one of
the top three poultry producing counties in Alabama.
Poultry producers in DeKalb County grow for three integrated poultry companies;
Tyson Foods, Inc., Wayne Farms, Inc. and Goldkist, Inc. Poultry makes up more
that 75 percent of the counties economy.
Several businesses help to sustain the successful poultry industry as well
as support the county association. Those businesses include; D&F Equipment,
The Federal Land Bank of North Alabama, First South Farm Credit, Horizon Bank,
North Alabama Poultry, etc.
The DeKalb County association has made strides in 2005 by establishing a
scholarship fund to financially support students of higher education from DeKalb
County. The association also formed this Web site to inform growers and give recognition
to businesses who contribute to their success.
